Jargon Decoder: Cultural Competence
This is the capacity to interact with and understand people of different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and so forth. When educational programs are evaluated by those who practice cultural competence, people are more likely to participate fully in evaluation. Also, cultural competence helps evaluators avoid drawing conclusions based on faulty assumptions about participants’ views, values, or behaviors. Cultural competence is essential to the integrity of Edvantia’s research and evaluation services. |
