Lessons Learned on Leadership in Mathematics and Science Education
10 Years of Success by the Rural Systemic Initiative
Edvantia’s Dr. Keith Smith, who directed the Coalfield Rural Systemic Initiative, hosted a July 16, 2008, forum of practitioners and policymakers to celebrate the Rural Systemic Initiatives (RSIs) that were funded by the National Science Foundation. Practitioners from the field shared information about successes and lessons learned from 10 years of RSI work. Representatives from several federal agencies that have education programs discussed how the RSI experience can be leveraged by other mathematics and science education programs.
