Effecting Change with School Improvement Funds
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 (2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Eastern)

Description: Tune in to “Effecting Change with School Improvement Funds,” sponsored by the Appalachia Regional Comprehensive Center (ARCC) and the Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center (MACC) to find out how states and districts across the nation are using School Improvement Funds to seed success. You may be surprised to learn that some of the most outside-the-box approaches are grounded in solid research. Well-known experts Carlas McCauley (U.S. Department of Education) and Jim Kohlmoos (Knowledge Alliance) will fuel your own improvement efforts with ideas and insights from the trenches--and answer questions posed by participants before and during the webinar. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from the experiences of other innovators--those who have boldly gone where you may be headed.

About the presenters:

Carlas McCauley is an Education Program Specialist for Student Achievement and School Accountability Programs, U.S. Department of Education, an office dedicated to supporting high-quality, sustained, school improvement activities that will lead to academic success for every child, in every school.

Jim Kohlmoos is president of the Knowledge Alliance, a nonprofit, nonpartisan strategic alliance established in 1997 to address the increasingly urgent need to apply rigorous research to persistent educational challenges facing our nation's schools.
