Enhancing Cultural Knowledge Webinar Series

Description: The Appalachia Regional Comprehensive Center (ARCC) at Edvantia is pleased to provide this free, three-part webinar series to help North Carolina educators better address the needs of English language learners. Gloria Rockhold, who pioneered the Latino Community Engagement Program in Virginia’s Albemarle County School District, is hosting the webinar series. Rockhold has extensive experience working with English language learners, their families, and the educators who support them. She brings a wealth of knowledge about strategies educators can use to leverage and enhance cultural knowledge to promote student success.

Who is in your classroom? (March 1, 2010) The first webinar in the series provided background on what cultural knowledge is and is not. It explored the meanings of culture, diversity, cultural competence, and other key concepts related to cultural knowledge.
